When the glass house Sheila had lived in for so many years came crashing to the ground, she began a new life outside the safety of those walls. No, it didn't feel good, nor safe―not at all. But it felt true. Sheila saw herself as a broken lamb limping after the Shepherd, not knowing where He was going, but knowing that wherever He went, she wanted to go with Him.

I have read other books by Sheila and I really enjoy her writing. She uses her life experiences in many of her books, as she did this one.
It is always nice to know someone else has suffered and sinned, etc. just as you have. But this book of Sheila's was very different from her other writings that it really turned me off a bit, it was not uplifting nor was it encouraging to me at all.

For instance she writes in one chapter titled 'Fierce Love & Halloween Grace' she writes: "I call this kind of grace 'Halloween grace,' because it wears an unanticipated costume. (Halloween Costumes) don't 'necessarily give any clue to the sort of kid on the inside. Grace can be like that too.'" "But in each case His grace wears a slightly different costume."

This comparison totally turned me off and was very hard for me to swallow. There are many typos in her book as well as repetitive writing with the same point being repeated. The personal narratives were of no use to me either. I felt she left out some very useful bible based advise for the reader.

This was not one of Sheila Walsh's finest books at all, it was not very well thought out, it was very disorganized. I did like some parts of the book, such as chapter 6 was very well written and the sad part is the whole book could be summed up in this chapter.

I don't want to turn anyone off from reading Sheila Walsh's writing's because she has written some wonderful and useful books, this one unfortunately was not one of them I am sorry to say.

A Great Book For Your Bedside Table To Keep Handy

Todd D. Hunter focuses on showing us how much of our behavior is in fact sin and getting to the root of these sin issues. This book isn't written to condemn but rather to help us overcome and defeat these sins once and for all. Most of the sins addressed in this book are things considered "socially acceptable," for example, procrastination, over-eating, and media addiction, laziness.

Hunter, also an Anglican bishop, gives us beautiful, powerful prayers from ancient liturgies as one remedy for dealing with our disordered desires. He also discusses baptism, communion, Bible study, prayer and Christian fellowship. He suggests these disciplines as a means toward eventual victory over desires that mess up our lives in ways we really don't want.

I would recommend this book to readers of any faith, this is a great book to keep on your nightstand, and pick it up often and read. Also would be great as a gift for anyone.

Lisa Tawn Bergren does it again. This is a very cute story about love, and the illustrations are by Laura J. Bryant. The illustrations are complete, colorful, and fun and take the child on journey with Little Cub and his Grandpa.

The message of this book comes through loud and clear, "God gave us love." As Little Cub and Grandpa work through the day they learn about the purpose of love, different types of love and most importantly the power of God's gift of love when faced with someone or something that is sometimes not very easy to love.

It is clear and relates love in a way that will speak to a child's understanding. It is also a great read for parents that want a unique way to teach the concept of biblical love to their children.

I would recommend this book to anyone no matter what your faith may be, your child will love it.

From Blah To Awe: Shaking Up A Boring Faith By Jenna Lucado Bishop

Bishop is trying to reach young girls with her writing about how our faith can sometimes get boring, and it does sometimes, but allot of people will not admit to that. I know it does for me, my walk in faith and church life, and yes I suppose I would say God can get boring if I let it, I choose to stay in an “awe way” most of the time, but everybody has those “blah” moments.

But there are ways to change this and Bishop is sharing her own story of her own faith walk when church, God and life just got plain boring. She shares how young girls can change their heart and attitude and see their faith, church and God in an “awe way” instead of a “blah way”.

I enjoyed this book even though it is meant for young girls (tweens & teens) who struggle with their faith walk, church and God getting boring. But God doesn’t want us bored He wants us in an “awe way” all of the time. I would recommend this book for young girls (tweens & teens) but as an adult I found it to help me in my own faith walk.

Between Lions And Lambs By N.T. McQueen

Between Lions & Lambs is about a young man whose life to him was nothing but torture starting at a very young age, and in all reality it was. I was absolutely stunned and drawn in all at the same time throughout this whole book, it was a tad bit slow at first, but once you get going it is an eye opening read. It made me take a look at what religion really is and how God actually felt about religion. And it definitely made me take a look at the fact that my faith belongs in God not in man.

Ezekiel Clemens becomes a self-professed evangelist and builds an enterprise and reputation on lies, booze and prostitutes, while alongside him his longtime friend and publicist Gerald Lambough tries to cover up for all of Ezekiel's transgressions while dealing with his own conscience and conflicted life.

I was captivated with McQueen's writing, as he tells a tale of two very conflicted men with demons who take a journey into hypocrisy, violence, redemption and the ride of a lifetime, literally. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a great novel that you can actually visualize being there as you read it. This is a novel that will suck you right into it and oh what a journey you will have, this is a must read.

I chose this book to review because my son and daughter-in-law are expecting another baby, they have a two year old daughter so I thought this book would really fit for them to read to my granddaughter.

This is a wonderful story of a polar bear family that already have one little cub, and she asks her Mama and Papa bear many different questions about the little miracle that will be coming, for instance: "Why do you need a new baby?" "Will the new baby look like me?" "Will you forget about me?" "If we don't like the new baby, can we send it back?" "If the new baby cries too much, can I move next door?" These and many other questions are answered with love, "God gave us you, now he's given us two."

The illustrations in the book are beautiful and full of color for the little ones. I also love how they reassure little cub that God gave them her and they love her as much as they will love the new cub. I especially like this book as it mentions babies are gifts from God.

I would recommend this book to any family with little ones with another baby on the way. It is easy to understand and a wonderful read.

I could see myself in Pastor Andy Stanley’s ‘When Work and Family Collide: Keeping Your Job from Cheating Your Family’ before I retired. I worked third shift in Quality Control at a local Steel & Brass company and my job consumed my life at that time and I could see how my family suffered for this as I was reading Pastor Stanley’s book, and I have to admit I cried.

I could see how my husband and children suffered because of my work, especially my son. I can understand when Pastor Stanley talks about how you can live under the same roof and still be worlds apart in the introduction of his book ‘When Work and Family Collide’.

If you put any book on your list of ‘to read’ books this year, put this one at the top, it is a quick read. But when you read this book, please read it with your heart and mind wide open, and pray that what you read will really help make a difference in your work and family life. And I pray that those of you that do work outside your home and find yourself at work even when you may not be, that you would please take my advise and read this book if you find yourself at work even when you are not, do it for yourself and above all for your family.

Moments of Truth: Unleashing God's Word One Day at a Time by Pastor John MacArthur is a daily devotional, but it is not like other devotionals you may have read. My first thought was this was going to be like all the other devotionals I have, but I was happily surprised to find out it was not.

Each day offers devotions starting with a verse of scripture and ends with a question of reflection. In this unique daily devotional, Pastor John MacArthur offers readers truths that will not only inspire them, but will draw the reader in with his writings that are relevant to the season.

For example, January is ‘Beginnings’, April is ‘Growing’, June is ‘Marriage’, etc. These thoughts are short verses from a variety of Pastor MacArthur's previous books, for example "The Jesus You Can’t Ignore”, “The Truth War”, ‘Twelve Ordinary Men” etc.

I love devotionals, and I collect the ones that catch my attention as did this one. And I would recommend this book for anyone who does like devotionals but would like a devotional that is not like all other devotionals. This is a very well written devotional and will provide you with a great way to start or end your day, while drawing you closer to God.

I had a very hard time putting this book down. I found Cammy’s faith to be very inspiring, and her patience through all that she went through her whole life made me really come to admire this woman.

This Thing of Ours: How Faith Saved My Mafia Marriage is about a small-town girl Cammy Franzese who didn't plan to marry one of the most powerful mob bosses in the country. She didn't expect to raise her children alone while her husband Michael served hard time. And she certainly didn't anticipate what would happen when he finally made the stunning decision to turn his back on "the life" and become a devout Christian. Cammy expresses the details of her painful and joyful journey, for instance how as a Christian, she met and

married Michael when he was an unbeliever and a high-profile mobster. The high life she lived in their first year of marriage when she had more money than she knew what to do with. What it was like being under law-enforcement scrutiny, dealing with death threats, harassment from the FBI, and having to move several times to protect their family. And how she stayed faithful to Michael and raised their children on her own while he was locked up for eight years.

You will find out why Cammy stayed in a marriage loaded with so much heartache and struggle. With painful honesty, she speaks about restoration, miracles, and the confidence we can have knowing God prepares us for the challenges and obstacles we will one day have to face.

I thought this book was a great and interesting read. I would recommend this book for those of us that have made poor relationship choices and would like to hear of a redemptive story that just may inspire you or someone you know.

When The Soul Mends

When the Soul Mends was an excellent read. I enjoyed the story, although I did not read the first two books before I read this book for a review, I really enjoyed this book. I was on the edge of my seat to see what Hannah was going to do between Martin and Paul. So after I read this book I went out and bought the first two and finished both books in three days.

I think if Hannah didn’t go through the things that left her hurting that she ran from to begin with, she would not have become a nurse. Which the career move turned out to help her sister, her best friend and others. And Hannah also learned a lot about forgiveness as did Paul and others in the book and this is a lesson we all need to learn. I would recommend this book to all Amish book lovers, or anyone who loves a good series where you cannot put the book down.

First of all I just have to say Kristen Billerbeck is one of my all time favorite authors, I love her humor as well as her faith that comes through in her books.

The book has four different authors bringing to life back into Smitten, Vt. which had become a dying town. The lumber mill had closed and with no hope of another industry taking its place, leaving the townspeople thinking there is no hope for Smitten. Four friends come up with a plan to turn Smitten, VT into a honeymoon destination.

Four awesome authors write a quarter of the book, and they are individually focusing on one of the four characters in the story. Each story is intertwined with the other, the four sections give you a better picture of the four best friends. And little do they know their own lives will be touched by a love of their own

I really enjoyed this book and would read it again, these ladies really pulled this off, four different authors pulling together an amazing story of romance and bringing a small town of Smitten, Vt. Into your world, even for a short time. Sit back in a quiet place and let them take you into their story of Smitten, love and bringing a town and their residents back to life.

Restless In Carolina By Tamara Leigh

Although I have not read the other two books in this series, but I was still able to enjoy reading this book. Now I can't wait to read the other two books in this series, because Restless in Carolina was an awesome book. I could not put this down. Bridget Pickwick Buchanan struggles to overcome her grief from losing her beloved husband, which she is struggling to do. Bridget Pickwick is a quirky, outspoken, and hard-headed environmentalist with emotional baggage. Some of her antics made me cringe, while a few others made me laugh.

Bridget wants to preserve her uncle's land and ends up meeting with JC Dirk, a developer from Atlanta who sees the possibility of developing the land while keeping an eco-friendly development which is what Bridget wants. And along comes J.C. Dirk a man who gets Bridget's attention in a way no man has since she lost Easton. Their interaction is energizing as is the involvement of all the quirky Pickwick's, with their conflicting agendas and motivations. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves those types of readings that you can't get enough of.

I thought that this book, in which Holmes is retired, might be an interesting read. And all in all is was a pretty good read. Since it was the second book, I was surprised that I knew pretty much what was going on. I thought the book just a little bit scattered when the time travel came into play, but in order for Griffin to solve his mysteries he needs to travel in time.

It was hard for me to put the book down, because I wanted to know what was coming next. It is a ‘keeps you on the edge of your seat book’ and I love a mystery that will do this. I would recommend this book to children (9-12), as well as adults alike, you will not be disappointed if you love a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

This Little Prayer of Mine by Anthony DeStefano and illustrated by Mark Elliott. What a wonderful children’s book about prayer; I absolutely loved it, so much I read it three times. I was very touched by this simple, sweet, beautifully illustrated prayer. It has a wonderful message of faith & inspiration for children of all ages, especially important in today's world.

This is a great book that can help kids not only learn the importance of prayer but how to pray. I love how the lessons centers on a relationship with Christ and not just a child with a wish list for Jesus. I can see this book becoming another children's classic. This is a great book that will help kids not only learn the importance of prayer but how to pray. I am going to give this book to my grandchildren for Christmas gifts.

On the back cover of the book it states that Max has over 100 million works in print that will be an awful lot of books, so I am going to need a bigger library for sure. Each chapter builds and drives home a topic; using words of inspiration and examples from other works the writer has published. It is highly inspirational and Lucado never fails to impress me with his writings, this one book I will treasure forever.

A Year With Jesus Daily Readings And Reflections by R.P. Nettelhorst

A Year with Jesus, the primary focus is to allow the scriptures that contain Jesus' dialogue to uniquely speak to the reader. The author follows each reading with insights and applications to help explain the context and nuances of the text. The unique titling of each meditation and the nontraditional themes and organization help bring Jesus to our daily lives. Too many times the impact and grandness of the actual words Jesus spoke, as recorded in the Bible, are lost in the telling of the story. This is a description the author gives of this book, which this would have been true for me if the author would have actually written the book as stated.

The scriptures in the book are from the Old Testament as worded in in the preface of the book. You can read by different topics or as a devotional day by day. Some of the topics are: Love and Hate, Truths and Lies, Friends and Enemies, Belief and Disbelief, Patience and Impatience. As I skipped around to some of these topics in the book, I began to notice the author contradicting himself in a few of the reflections after the scripture. This turned me off right away, but that is just me.

I got the feeling the writer was not well educated in the word of God, either/or the author has doubts that the bible is actually God’s word. His beliefs and my Christian beliefs became very different about half way through this book, so I have to be honest and say that everyone is different, and I believe you will have to read it for yourself, because everyone has different beliefs.

A Must Read - The Crossing By Author Serita Jakes

I was not able to put this book down, I love faith based suspense novels anyway. The Crossing starts out with BJ Remington being shot 10 years earlier on the school bus that was coming back from a football game. A masked gunman boarded the bus and shot the star quarterback and cheerleading coach BJ Remington.

This is a must read, it is an amazing story of unconditional love, hope and loss. To me this book is for anyone who has experienced a loss, or gone through a traumatic experience, and still be able to find your way back to God in such a heavy time in your life.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it to everyone who enjoys faith based suspense novels. You will not be able to put this book down. Serita Jakes has captured the attention of her readers with this wonderful novel of healing and grace.

Book Review Of Heaven Is For Real By Todd Burpo With Lynn Vincent

Little 4 year old Colton Burpo's family is left stunned as he begins to describe heaven and the people he encountered there with an accuracy that should be impossible for a 4 year old child. Colton has a message for his family about his encounters, and questions for his daddy whom is a Pastor at a local church. I have to be honest when I first agreed to review this book I had my doubts, even as a Christian it was hard for me to wrap my mind around a 4 year old telling his story about heaven. But after I got deeper into the book, it was actually little scary to hear a four year old as he described meeting his unborn sister and great-grandfather, and what Jesus looked like, and little Colton was determined to be heard about his experience in heaven. Fact or fiction? Still not sure how I really feel about the facts of the book itself.

Reviewing Grumble Hallelujah: Learning to Love Your Life Even When It Lets You Down was such a joy for me, because I could relate to Caryn so much and her honesty is awesome. If you had told Caryn Dahlstrand Rivadeneira while she was crying on the kitchen floor that she could find a way to praise God in this situation, she wouldn’t have believed you. In fact, she might have thrown something at you. Looking around at a life that was disappointingly different from what she’d dreamed she couldn’t imagine honestly singing out a hallelujah. But then it occurred to her that, well, maybe she could manage to grumble one.

Have you been there? I know I have, and it stinks. But Caryn shows us that there is light at the end of the tunnel. What I love the most about this book was Caryn’s down right honesty weather it was good or bad, she did not pussy foot around life’s problems. I really enjoyed reading this book, and if you have ever been on the floor crying your eyes out and screaming you hate your life, then I know you will love it too.

Shadows on the Sand by Gayle Roper, is a Christian fiction romance suspense novel. After seventeen years of living with an alcoholic mother, and one abusive relationship after another, Carrie Carter took her young sister and made a life for them in Seaside New Jersey.

She ends up becoming a small business owner of a café in Seaside; she becomes attracted to a man who is a regular at the café, former cop Greg Barnes, who is also recovering from his own skeletons in his past.

Her dishwasher gets murdered, and a young waitress at the café disappears, which gets Greg Barnes involved in to help Carrie solve these two mysteries.

For me in the beginning of the book it started out a bit dry and slow, but as I got into the book I got more interested in finding out about what had happened to the dishwasher and waitress, and the relationship progress between Carrie and Greg.

I would recommend this to anyone who likes to read Christian fiction with a bit of suspense thrown in.

This book takes you through 100 days of different prayers. It is set up like a devotional book with a great devotion on the subject for that day, and a prayer you can pray. Then you have short prayer assignments that go along with the subject, and you are provided an area to journal about your progress for that day. This would be a good book to boost anyone's prayer life!

Now I am a devotional book addict, I love them. For me that is what the book geared more towards a 100 day devotional, and I recommend this to anyone who wants to enhance their prayer life, keep at your bedside for a daily devotional. I think this is a good book to have if you want a more consistent prayer life with God.

I just wanted to share this with everyone. I just got this bible yesterday and I LOVE it. I couldn't even wait to get it, because I was so excited. I love Stormie, although I don't have all of her books and devotions (but would love to).

This bible is an NIV bible as well as a prayer and study bible, and the devotions by Stormie are awesome, so if you like different types of bibles pick this one up, you won't be sorry you did.

Stormie had a very rough upbringing, her mom was very cruel to her, but her mother was sick, but at that young age Stormie did not realize what was going on. She has a book out called 7 Prayers That Will Change Your Life Forever, and this is where she talks a little bit about her upbringing. This is also another AWESOME book by Stormie, well in my opinion all of her books are good, lol!

God Gave Us You By Lisa Tawn Bergren

The title just jumped out at me when I saw this book. My daughter is having her last baby, she already has three boys and we prayed this one would be a girl, and our prayers came true. I just feel that God is giving her to us and she is definitely a gift and such a blessing.

God Gave Us You does describe how special and what a gift from God your child is, and I love how Mama bear tells her baby cub how much they wanted her. I did not think it was practical that the polar bears would go to the hospital to have their baby bear, but I had to sit back and read it as if I were just a little one wanting know where I came from, so all in all it is an adorable story.

It is beautifully illustrated by Laura J. Bryant and I love the Christian values the book depicts. I would recommend this book for your little gift from God.

The Grandmothers Bible

I have already found such a different and deep love for my grandchildren then I could ever have imagined. But I absolutely love my Grandmothers Digital Bible. I love the format and the fact that there is a prayer with each devotional for your grandchild, or since I have five grandchildren I pray for all of them by just changing the wording a little, (i.e.; them, their).

This Bible also offers inspiring devotions and guidance to leave a Godly legacy for your grandchildren. I actually had this on my Nook, and I loved it so much I went out and bought the hard copy of it.

I recommend this to any grandmother who would like to have a deeper prayer life for your grandchildren (grandchild), and if you love devotionals, you will love the devotions in this Bible.

Funny Yet Inspirational....

Too Blessed to Be Stressed: Inspiration for Climbing out of Life's Stress-Pool by Debora Coty will have you laughing so hard, and sitting there wondering why you are stressed out to begin with. I absolutely loved this book; it is for anyone who finds their self-dealing with health issues, family problems, financial difficulties, etc. I thought this book was very humorous, I was laughing throughout the entire book, she has way of writing that draws you in and makes you laugh while you're actually learning something at the same time.

The chapters in the book are short and at the end of each story there is a bible verse and questions, which I found to be truly thought provoking, as well as being very inspirational. She has a way of making you feel like you're talking to your best friend, understanding exactly what you are going through, she shares her own stories with you, which makes you laugh even harder.

I recommend this book to anyone who wants to embrace God's grace while coping with life and the stresses it can bring to us, with a whole lot of laughter and inspiration to go with it.

The Gathering by Jim Rosemergy, can really make anyone stop and think about their relationship with God. This book is actually a nine step journey into the power of personal or group prayer, as well as a 40 day guide with questions, that will definitely make you stop and think. For me this book was an easy to read, I could not put it down. The author really captured my attention as I am sure he will yours. What I found amazing was the information that Mr.Rosemergy gives you about your needs, your prayer life, and your relationship with God.

This book really made me stop and think about my needs and what my prayer life has been like with Jesus, and what I thought the description of my prayers being answered was. It was even a bit hard for me to find out that God does not fulfill our needs through prayer.

I found out that prayer is not something we do; it is an experience of God’s presence, wow now I am really interested. The further I got into the book, I found some challenges that the author sets for the readers, some for me really hit home. One of those was the forgiveness challenge.

I think allot of us as Christians find it hard at times to forgive ourselves, I know I do. And maybe even forgiving others sometimes as well, is difficult for some of us, it is me. Another one of the challenges in the book I thought to be very thought provoking, well in all honesty this whole book is thought provoking, but back to the other challenge, which was the challenge to accept myself, I thought oh boy I am a failure as a Christian because this is something very hard for me to do. But at these times that I run into a few of these difficult challenges, I need to put myself back into His presence, and spend time alone with Him.

I also think this book makes a very good devotional, I would recommend this to anyone who wants a deeper meaning of prayer, and having a deeper relationship with God on His terms not ours.

Where Will You Go From Here? by Valorie Burton who is a certified personal and executive life coach. When I read the preview of this book I thought I would get some good advice out of it since I struggle with health issues.

I am not saying I did not walk away with some good tips because I did, but I found that it was not what I expected the material to be. If your the type of person that can think "well if I think positive and everything will work out" type of person" then this would be a good book to get some great tips from.

There are some people who are positive thinkers, and can feel this way, but I am one that puts more trust in God then into the mindset "if I think positive then things will go well" and yes I know that I do have to think positive that God is listening to my prayers and knows my needs. But I am more in the mindset that I KNOW He hears me, and will answer whatever His will is for me, for whatever it is in that time of my life.

I just would rather it have been geared towards God a bit more for help and confidence. I was not as impressed as I thought I would be with the preview that I read. BUT I do believe that there are people who could and would benefit from this book, she does offer very good suggestions, and it is written in a positive, and understanding way on issues people can and do confront.

Wonderful and Delightful Read....

Stumbling Into Grace by Lisa Harper, was for me a witty and very refreshing book to read and review. I would read anything by Lisa Harper after reading this book by her.

I think Lisa Harper is one of the most honest writers, along with Anne Lamott who can talk about being a stumbling Christian and laugh, cry and rejoice all at the same time.

We all sin, we all make mistakes on a daily basis, and there are some Christians who believe they are better then others, and love to gossip, etc. But yet God forgives us ALL of our short comings, as long as we can recognize them, and ask for His forgiveness.

I found this book refreshing, sad, funny, and full of divine truths about my Redeemer. She makes you laugh in one instance, while having you crying in the next. She reminded me that He has unconditional love for all of us who know Him as our Lord and Savior. It is so very easy to relate to her storytelling , the pain, happiness and growth she goes through as a Christian.

I would recommend this book to any Christian who loves to read about Gods word, with laughter, tears and grow as a Christian while doing so.

Never The Bride

Jessie Stone fantasizes about being married, her wedding dress, and what the perfect proposal would be, while jotting all of this down in her journal. She is on every dating site there is, while speed dating.

She has always been the bridesmaid, but never the bride! She has raised her independent younger sister Brooklyn whom falls for for every dysfunctional man she meets, and worked at a dead end real estate job for ten years believing she would someday move up the ladder.

Then God appears to Jessie in the flesh and tells her to let Him write her love story, she thinks He is a stalker and calls 911 (yes the officers do not see anyone). She wants to run her life on her own terms not the way God has her life mapped out. He wants her to believe in Him and trust Him that He knows what is best for her, but Jessie does not like those terms, she believes He should make things happen the way she wants them to happen.

I have to say I am torn between enjoying this book, yet it was a bit over the top for me. Like the part about dancing with God, invisible to everyone but Jessie, in a public restaurant, was a little out there for me. Imagination is a must when reading this book.

The Waiting Place By Eileen Button

This book is for anyone who does not like to wait, now how many people would that be? Hmmm, like all of us! I am the most impatient person I know as of yet. I do not like to wait, in line, wait for traffic lights, and the most important, I don't like to wait on God. WOW! I actually said it, but really I am so impatient when it comes to waiting for him to answer my prayers, etc. And I am sure there are allot of people out there like me.

The waiting place reminded me to slow down and take life one day at a time. And Eileen turns waiting places inside out with humor, sadness, love and shows us how to approach the growth and healing that are present in those times.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, this is a good book to keep by your bedside table and read one a night, it's a perfect companion as you wander through your own waiting places, as I do.
Eileen writes about the struggle to move forward when we are forced to wait, and reminds us that God is everywhere, especially in our darkest times of waiting.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to approach life with a better view of how to be a bit more patient in your own waiting places, and know that God is there right beside you.

A Page Turner For Sure....

My review of the book Tandem by Tracey Bateman. WOW! How do you mix vampires and God in such an awesome book? Well Tracey Bateman did it, and I throughly enjoyed this book. I was unsure about it when I requested it to read, but after I dug into it, the book kept me on the edge of my chair the whole time. Tracey really knew how to bring the characters alive in this book. Brutal murders shocked the small community of Abbey Hills, then a fire broke out at Markus Chisom's home and supposedly claimed the killers life, so said the reporters, and some others as well.

Then along comes Lauryn McBride, and her family auction business has taken responsibility for the estate sale of one of the victims, Markus Chisom. Lauryn takes on the responsibility to give her a break from watching Alzheimers steal her father from her, day after day. Lauryn soon finds that centuries of old secrets tie Abbey Hills to the Chisom estate, along with a mysterious evil that will do anything to make sure those secrets stay hidden. And the man who grew up loving her may not be able to protect her from the danger that is ahead. I know it sounds like avery strange book, and it may be but it is an awesome read.

Awesome & Inspiring Devotional By Mr. Graham

I have never read anything by or watched Billy Graham, but after I chose this to review I have definitely changed my tune, and I would like to hear him preach now, as well as read allot more books by him. Unto the Hills is a daily devotional that has wonderful scriptures at the beginning and then a prayer at the end. I was truly impressed with this devotional, and now more so with Billy Graham. It is for a new Christian as well as someone who has had Christ in their lives for 20 years. One of the devotions I read had something to do with something personal in his life and it made him more of a real person to me, I guess I really don't know how to explain it, for myself. I can tell you that if you are looking for a good daily devotional grab this one at your local bookstore. You won't regret having this devotional handy.

This is a daily devotional book compiled with stories from missionaries who have traveled around the world, those who serve and who are courageous and wonderful and have Gods guiding hand and protection in their service abroad. Each day you'll be taken on a new adventure by a missionary or someone else who has put their lives on the line for God. Like anything by Beth Moore, this book is nothing but inspiring. Although there are many devotionals available, this one has the added benefit of allowing us to become intimate with the people who are willing to share God's heart in difficult and unfamiliar places. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to grow and strengthen their understanding of missions and also to appreciate all we have been blessed with.

Awesome Read

Blind Hope, by Kim Meeder and Laurie Sacher was such an amazing story. I could not put this book down, I was done with this book in a day and a half if that. It is about a rescued dog and her master. The dogs name is Mia, and Laurie comes to find out that after she takes the dog she rescued to the vet, that she has diabetes and she is going blind. Although Laurie goes through many trials with her new pet, Laurie is able to learn more about herself and her relationship with the Lord.

Her dog helps her to see things through a whole new light. This is a story that is very meaningful and heart warming. I would recommend this book to everyone. This is a story that leaves you with a great feeling, and allot to think about. This book is about compassion and having God be in control of your life, instead of you trying to control your life on your own. It made me take a look at my own relationship with God, and how I needed to change myself.

Really Woolly Bible Stories Book Review

I was looking for a religious book for my grandson for Christmas. I was so happy when I received Really Woolly Bible Stories by Bonnie Rickner Jehsen.
It was exactly what I wanted, something simple that he could even understand and in time be able to read to his younger brothers.

I love how it rhymes while there are several poems, each giving one Bible story. It holds the Childs attention since the poems are so short but yet very accurate. This will be just the ticket to help introduce Jesus into my grandsons world.

The Internationals Childrens Bible

Yes the Bible is very easy for a child to understand and read if they are at least 3rd grade level. I was very disappointed that it was not geared towards the younger children, 5 and up. It is a very good Bible for younger children if you read it to them, but my grand children are not at that reading age and I wanted to get my granddaughter her first Bible, but this is not it.

So I found myself reading it and studying from it, which was a great thing. The stories in it flow much like a story book, which I think is really cool, and very easy to understand. It is a wonderful gift for a child but at least at 3rd or 4th grade level.

A Christmas Story By Amy Parker

A review of The Christmas Story by Amy Parker and Illustrated by Marijan Ramljak. The little boy wanders through the house on a snowy Christmas night offering a prayer of thanks and blessing. The child finishes with thanks to God for the greatest Gift of all. The prayer draws attention away from the material aspects of Christmas, and turns children to the true Christmas Gift, Jesus. The illustrations in the book are awesome, and go along very well with the story.

But the one thing I did have a problem with is I read this book to my 5 year old granddaughter and she did not seem interested in the story, I believe it was because the story line is reparatory through out the book, and she lost interest very quickly. A Time To Embrace

I thought this was a good book, but I felt that it was just another Kingsbury predictable story. There's always some grand tragedy in all of her books, Things always resolve themselves in a good way. A character is given a 1% chance of living and always does. I'm a huge believer in trusting in God and following his plan, but most things in her novels are wrapped up in pretty little packages. I know God does work miracles.

But I felt she was straining credibility just a little bit here! It annoys me sometimes when everything gets wrapped up in such a neat little perfect package: Two saved marriages. . . a saved preemie baby. . . an easy victory for a teenage son over a particular temptation. . . a saved job. . .

Although the book and writing is solid, I am too much of a cynic to accept an ending with a bow tied upon it. Miracles occur, I agree. However, the journey is most often long and arduous. Prayers are answered but rarely the way I have specified. On the other hand, everybody's life plan is unique and different. My own miracles and answers seem to arrive in different sizes and colors than Kingsbury's protagonists.

Mystically Wired By Ken Wilson

This book was a bit out of left field for me, I did not care for it much at all.

For instance in the beginning of the book I found it to be quite confusing. I am not a very science oriented thinker to begin with, so some chapters were hard to comprehend. I am a not a very mature Christian so it was hard for me to follow quite a bit of this book. This book relies on a lot of scientific data and extreme experiences to draw the conclusion that our brains are designed to pray to God.

I started to think that the author was "a little out there" and really did not even want to finish the book but I did. I found it to be somewhat wordy, at times, to get to a simple point. It was almost as if you needed a summary of each chapter to understand what you just read. I wanted to read this book because I really need to focus more on my prayer life, such as 'how to' pray as well as just plain praying in itself. For me this book was not very helpful, and I found it quite difficult to read. I guess to each there own.

A Bit Out There For Me But...

My review of the book The Last Christian. In the future tolerance has come to pass and Christianity no longer exists. Abigail Caldwell grew up in a remote jungle in Papua New Guinea. A disease killed her village, forcing her into a real world that she has no connection to.

It is almost scary how easily the reader can imagine the circumstances in the story coming to pass. It is a little eerie to think this may not be so far in the future anymore for us. The faith aspect of this story is very thought provoking, the reader will definitely look at the gospel in a brand new light. There is a heavy focus on life, a little love, and tolerance that is not so tolerant.

Embrassing Your Second Calling

My review of 'Embracing Your Second Calling By Dale Hanson Bourke'. I have to say that I was really looking forward to reading this from the definition of it on Booksneeze. But after I really got into the book, I was not greatly impressed, but it was not the worst book I have read lately either.

I really enjoyed her 'Reflections' in the book as well as some of the prayers at the end of the chapters. I did feel it was geared toward professional women journeying into the second half of their lives. I am not a professional, but I am on my journey in the second half of my life. So there were some things I did learn and could and did take from the book. There were an awful lot of references to other books, but some of the books I would not mind reading at all, it's just she referenced too many in my opinion. All in all I would recommend this, but just look past the professional career gig.

This Book Is A MUST Read You Guys

I got the chance to read and review this book called 'Life, In Spite of Me' and it was an awesome book. She was only 17 years old and still in school, and she is a good kid for the most part. Then of course along comes this girl she meets who is in with the bad crowd, and she starts drinking, smoking pot, and cigarettes, missing class, not doing homework.

Well it all comes to a head one night when her mom started to holler at her about her doing her homework, and her friends, she said "I don't like your friends, I think they are a bad influence on you" that just made Kristen madder and she started to scream back which she had never done before. She told her mom "her friends are not a bad influence on me, I am doing these things because I want to...."

"It was cold out that night, but I didn't care I took off towards the park, I didn't know where else to go. I sat there in the swings thinking, twisting around in the swings. I kept thinking' lately it seemed like I could not do anything right, I wasn't there for my family or my friends anymore', and a deep chill set in on my bones and my thoughts grew darker.

I tried to think of a reason to stick around and live, I mean all I was doing was smoking, drinking, and partying on the weekends trying to escape the pain. The only reason I could think of was my nephews, but I'm not a good example for them anymore. Man I was cold and it was getting late, suddenly a train whistle blew, and I looked over at the train tracks.

Captivating By John & Staci Eldredge

Captivating almost reminds me of a devotional in a way. I liked the book and it did make me think of myself in some areas. But I did feel like this book was really meant for someone who has been wounded or hurt in some way.

It made me think of someone that is not confident in themselves. I do recommend the book because everyone can use a little boost knowing God really does love us no matter what, and as women we are very important, and beautiful inside and out.

Essentials For Life Book Review

I really was not sure what to expect what this book would be about from the title. When I did get it and started to read it I found that this book for me is a wonderful handbook and guide to keep in mind that you have to study your Bible daily, as well as setting aside time to hear from God, and a time for worship. It is a reminder for all Christians what is important for us as a Christian. I keep this handy by my bedside as a devotional, because that is what it reminds me of. Great book!
